Fortunately the 'tap' was easy to move.

I now have issues with the right hand slider. It moves the hidden lever slightly but the cable bows out .
I'm in improvisation mode - but TBH I can live with the air direction being dodgy.

Talking of weather:

All of Spring and Summer has been annoying with regards to getting the soft top back. One side would not clip into the frame holder making it a PITA to put back up again.
I tried changing all the geometry (loosening bolts and jiggling things) but there was no way the hook would snap in. In fact the positioning made it impossible.

So I took my roof down for the last time a week ago. Wow! it clipped in!

It mended itself!

This is mechanical - it can't be like an electrical problem were an earth 'goes good' etc.

I'm afraid it is like an electrical problem. Just you wait until Easter when you take the hard top off again, the gremlins will have been in there and uncatched those side catches while you were sleeping...... You will curse, just like we all do.
