Drivers door drops - how do you rehang/adjust?

    Hi

The drivers door has dropped slightly so I can unlatch the door and then it sticks. I can slip my fingers into the rear of the door jam and the door pulls open easily.

The Triumph workshop manual seems to show that the door end of the hinges are slotted (?), is it as easy as dropping the door trim off and adjusting the position of the door on the hinge brackets?

Any advice on adjustment would be welcome.

As you say the hinges are slotted, just a matter of trial and error to get the best fit of the door.

As Ff says, it is a question of trial and error and trying to get the door gaps right is a challenge. I started off placing a thin sliver of 6mm plywood along the cill and resting the loosened door on it. reaching through the opened window I was able to nip up the bolts enough to hold the door in that place to try it out. Minor implants of thin cardboard later I had the vertical position to my liking and it was just a question of sliding the car back and forth along the plywood 'rest' until I was content with the horizontal alignment. I was lucky that the door pins are unworn and when the plywood was removed the door hung nicely.

And it's not just the adjustment on the door side of the hinge. The a post also can go up down in and out. Sometimes if you run out of adjustment you can elongate holes in the door side of the hinge. I sometimes found just one or two were hindering further movement.
Sometimes a very light nip up then using a lever covered in masking tape to protect your paint on the A post side allows you to manipulate the hinge without it dropping completely out of position.
You can also remove your door latch whilst doing this to allow the door to sit firstly where it closes then re add the latch body side. It sometimes pulls the door to sit where the latch is set rather that where it is hinged to sit.

have you checked that it is not the hinge pin that is worn?

Open door and lift it, any movement is loose hinges or worn pin

I did mine like Jakesmig but with the b post catch removed so that I could get everything lined up, then I refitted the catch and adjusted it and not the hinges

Edited to add just read Edds post and therefore like Jakesmig and Edd have already suggested.. But check for pin wear
