Stag height

Hi all, does anyone know the ride height on standard springs. My car is down on the drivers side by 1''measured from the garage floor to the center of the front wings. I suspect springs so will fit new springs, standard, with poly seats, suspension already poly bushed(yellow)
Also going to fit oil/temp guage, where is the best route through the bulk head for the pipe work?

14.5" measured from top of wheel arch vertically down to wheel centre.
There are a number of holes, just use whichever is large enough and convenient.

Try checking if the anti-roll bar is twisted as that can help the car to sit awkward

Sean. I suggest before you go buying new springs that you take yours off and check their free length. It could be front or back causing the problem. If you do find you have a weak one, all I can say is be careful when buying new ones. Some of them have been incorrectly made and will make the car look like it is on stilts.

If you do buy new ones I'd use Monarch as he will only sell matched sets of good springs - you may choose if you want lowered or not too or slightly lowered..

I had height issues, high at the front, ow at the back, bought a set of new springs from Paddocks and exactly the same !! Paddocks said they had dhad no complaints and the springs were correct.

Was advised to speak to Faversham who suggested to get front springs from SOC Spares and use extra thick poly seat on the lower end of the rear springs, guess what, absolutely spot on at 14.5 inches.

Paddocks would not accept the springs back as they had been used and no one else had complained !!

The SOC Tech Panel recommended in mag no. 181 from 12/1996: 14" (356 mm) from the wheel center to the wheel arch.
My Stag has 355 mm front and 350 mm rear. Front spring length is 15,25" (387 mm) w/o load.

In a members letter the spring height was recommended with 15,4" front and 12" rear--both w/o any load.

For what it is worth, I fitted 1 inch lower leda springs.
The front ended up at 14.5 inches, the rear 13 inches, but I do currently have a fair amount of negative camber as a result with standard brackets.

Thanks for your reply Mike, where are Monarch? do they have a web site or an e-mail address or do you know their phone number, ta. I think I will do as Mike (Lingen) suggests and take them out first and measure.

Mgb's are well known for the "Bachelor lean" it seems to be due to the sad MGB drivers driving around without a partner!

They swap the springs left/right to help, but it does seem to be a twist in the frame.

14.5" all round on mine. Monarch STD height progressive rate springs recently fitted.
