    Car will not start!

    Hi all, tried to start the car today, last used about 3 days ago and it would not fire. This has never happened before. Normally fires after about 3 turns. Checks made so far.....no spark at the plugs, no spark at dist end of coil lead. Rotor arm is turning. If you earth on the top mount bolt, you get 12v on either side of the coil with the ignition on. 0v with ignition off. It has luminition ignition and coil. Any suggestions please. If it is the coil, does it have to be luminition or can any coil be fitted? This car is a MK2. Fuel pump works fine. Thanks in advance. Mark

    Check the 3-pin connector in the Lumenition wiring. Known to get dirty contacts. I, and others, have replaced with a Superseal connector as per this eBay item: 141059421831

      Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. I did check the connectors and they were dirty. I cleaned them but no good, still wont start. Should there be any voltages on these pins? Is it just a question of cutting out the block and fitting a new one? Can you cut out the block and just join the wires together or do they need to be in a block for a reason? With regard to the voltages on the coil, are these normal? Just wondered if you had any thought on this or any other ideas. Could it be the coil? Thanks Mark

            They don't need to be in a block, but it makes it easier to disconnect if you need to take out the dizzy. Just cut out the existing block and fit, following the instructions that come with the (genuine) Superseal connectors.

            I will now defer to the ignition experts on here to assist......
