    New Minilites!

Bit the bulllet and ordered a set of the 7x 16 Minilites, took advantage of the 15% discount from Rimmers.

Hoping they look as good on "SAL" as they do on the Stag they show them on.

It means more new tyres too which is a bind but I think it will be worthwhile, hopefully

Good luck Mike we all look forward to seeing them fitted. I do think most wheel look better on a stag with slightly lowered suspension. Some stags sit very high it seems.

I used to have mine lowered Edd but I kept scraping my bottom on speed humps etc - ouch! I
ts now on standard height Monarch springs - it seems fine really but I do like the lowered look..
I think these wheels will fill the arches more so maybe compensate for the unlowered look a bit

Looking forward to your opinion of them.
What tyre size are planning to fit?

                  Hi Mike,

205/55 16 seem to be the best fit. I had 205's in 70 section some while back and they were fine and cleared the arches so given the overall diameter for a 205 tyre on a 55 section is slightly smalller it should be fine - trouble is I won't know until I've bought the tyres so fingers crossed!

                  Any thoughts either way?

                  Cheers
                  Mike

Just my opinion so attack not necessary. I was thinking of going to 16's when I bought my wheels. But as said it would have needed going to 55 profile which I feel would have affected the ride comfort and I didn't think the low profile look suited the stag. Never the less I'm sure they will look great, and has been repeated many times, who cares what others think. I cant wait to see the piccies Mike. PS What's the ET on the news wheels ??

205/55 16 would be my choice too.
225/50 16 would be nice, if they would fit.

My old e46 BMW 3 series ran 225/50 16's and I always thought they had a nice balance between width for grip, and still compliant for ride.
Just feel the latest cars having lower profile tyres are purely for show, and suffer easily with rim damage with pot holes etc.

Totally different type of car my Maserati has 18's, 235/40 up front and 265/35 at the rear. The later GranSport had 19's and even lower profile tyres but the result is a harsh ride and rims that crack at the nearest hole in the road...all for show, nothing else.
                      Mike.

I believe modern cars have lower profile tyres as this is the only way they can fit bigger brakes within the wheel

Mike, Iagree with you about the 225's but I think they will be just too wide - the ETon the Miniltes is +6 (Graham) which will give 3mm of extra clearance at the strut and29 less at the outside arch - 205's clear "on paper" but 225's will be just too wide at both sides.
I'm not sure about how they are going to feel on the road but in theory the amount ofair between the tyre and wheel should not be much different, just spread over awider area rather than in height (if you get my drift..?) albeit there will be no bulge in the side wall as with 195/70's.
                          We'll see.
Our Range Rover Sport has 305/35 x 22 tyres - the rims don't like potholes at alla nd we've so far had 3 crack! Looks great but seriously not for many English roads!
I do think many manufacturers have lost the plot on wheel sizes but I guess not everywhere has roads as appalling as ours now and also, being slightly cynical, it gives them a very healthy flow of spares income!

You may have a fair point Andrew about brakes but I cant hep but be cynical!

                            Hi Mike

Why will there not be a bulge as per the 195's?

29mm seems quite a lot to come out. with my offset I used up some of the inboard space by going in 13mm and only coming out 7mm. be interested how it all works out though.
