Coming soon - Stag Sightseeing Tours (Tenerife)

In order to test out my new dashcam in combination with my soon to arrive new sound recorder, I thought I would try them out initially with some small tours in the Stag around the area around where I live, and upload the results to YouTube for anyone who wants to watch.

The 1st one - “Tour 1” will take us on a circular route from my home on the outskirts of Los Cristianos, into Las Americas, then back passing “Siam Park” (voted the World's top Water Theme Park), and next to it a new shopping centre called “Siam Mall” before heading into Los Cristianos again.

Next I plan “Tour 2” to be another short local tour but in the opposite direction, into Las Galletas and Guargacho, then back home via Silencio (where Staggard lives) and past the newly planted “Dragon Tree” roundabout in Guaza.

Haven't yet decided on the routes of any future tours, but they will each take us farther afield, and feature different scenery. I am waiting for my son to bring out the “Zoom H1” sound recorder I will be using later this month, so it will likely be November before the first video “Tour 1” will be available for viewing. 1 will make a further post on this Thread when it is.

A map of the area covered by Tours 1 & 2 appears below - "Silencio" is not labelled on it but is just to the right of "Galletas", and "Guargacho" is just before Las Chafiras. If you go on Google Maps and "zoom in" on the area you will see them. The "TF1" is the main Tenerife Motorway that will eventually circle the whole of the Island. "La Camella" shown on the map is where Canarian Stag owner "Paco" has his garage, Paco being the President of the local (Arona) Classic Car Club. All adopted roads on Tenerife by the way are labelled beginning with the letters "TF".

Counting Ian Charlesworth's white Stag (he has a place in Los Cristianos) there are at least 4 Stags in the small area of Tenerife shown on the map, possibly more as I have seen a blue one in Pacos garage and I know his own is a red one.

Tomorrow my Son and family arrive in Tenerife & my Son should have with him item C) in the diagram below - the Zoom H1 Sound recorder.

That plus the new Mobius Dashcam I already have replace the old Sony Handycam I used to use in the car for videoing trips out as the Sony has now been confined to the Dustbin. The existing "Mike" will plug into the new Zoom recorder, and I hope to test it soon combining the soundtrack it produces with the video footage the Mobius takes on a run out - so watch this space.

The blueprint diagram below plus the photo show the equipment and it's locations in my Stag. It may be a week though before I can do the test run as with two of our grandkids arriving tomorrow I think I am going to be otherwise occupied whilst they are here (for a week as it is half term where they live).

Fantastic idea Terry, look forward to seeing the 'film' especially as the last time we were at Siam Park (which is definitely the best water park anywhere) the shopping centre didn't exist - how things change!

Ive still got a handy cam albeit a Panasonic, not used for years now as realistically all that's needed is a Go-Pro.

        Have fun filming..

        Cheers
        Mike

The Siam Mall shopping centre is really nice - lots of good shops (not just expensive ones) and some nice restaurants on the top open floor. It is done out with several nice water features, large Siam style statues, and some attractive wooden structures, and in one of the clothes shops they have an excellent condition Mk1 VW Camper Van inside displaying some of the articles that they are selling.
Will drive round the outside of the Mall with the dashcam operating on the first run to try and capture it.
PS. By the way - they have now added some new rides to Siam Park (especially for children) to make it better.
PS2 - The Mobius dashcam is rated mucher higher and much cheaper than the "Go Pro", I went through the reviews before deciding which to get (see the "Techmoan" website for reviews).

Last and only time I was in Tenerife was over 30 years ago, and I don't think Las Americas existed!

Las Americas evolved as a tourist destination when the new airport opened in November 78 after the huge air crash in March 77. It was certainly well established when I came to live here in 86.

It would have been very early 80's, in my teens, so not as established as today I am sure!

                  Hello all,

My wife and I were in Tennerife in mid October. We were in Puerto de la Cruz (Hotel Xibana) in the North-West. Unfortunately I forgot to ask before who of you lives close, so that we could have had a drink together. Are you all in the South of Tennerife?

                  Best wishes,
                  Dieter - from Germany.

                    Hi Dieter,
Myself and Staggard and 2 other Stag owners live in the South of Tenerife.
Don't know if there are any Stag owners in the North.

It tends to be that most German Tourists fly into the North Airport and stay around the Puerto de la Cruz area,
whereas British, Irish, Belgian etc., Tourists nearlly always fly into South Airport and stay in Los Cristianos or Las Americas or nearby.

Weather can be quite different bwteen the North and the South, the South being hotter and more arid, the North greener and cooler.

Quite a few people who reside in the South often have a weekend break in Puerto de la Cruz for a change of scenery, it used to take about an hour and a half on the Motorways to get from the South to Puerto de la Cruz, but with the new extension just having been completed, there is now an alternative opposite way round to get there which should be quicker.
