    Pertronix ignition, rotor arm problem.

    As per this video:-

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxxy4q0N11Q

I have a problem with the rotor arm fouling the distributor cover due to it sitting a little higher. its at 6mins:30s on that video

Anyone got a part number of the shorter rotor he shows in the video??

Never had that problem. Are you using the right kit as there are two, depending if your dizzy has single or twin points.

      Pertronix LM181A

I have the twin points but it actually replaces the old plate anyways so not sure if that's a factor.

It's pretty obvious that the plastic piece you slip over the cam raises the rotor arm just a little, and if it was in the car it would be difficult to detect, it's only just rubbing enough to make it feel a little stiff but rotates.

I had this, the plastic shroud that the goes over the cams had a casting burr and it did not push all the way down so not allowing the rotor to go down. I just filed off the burr and all was fine.

No its going fully down, we are talking about 1-2 mm here, Its not binding it tight but you can feel the friction. It must be really tight fit even without the shroud. Both of the parts I have are Lucas Originals, I could shave a mm off the bottom of the rotor and it would be fine. I may end up doing that.

You should not have to alter the rotor arm. make sure that the shroud ( for the want of a better name) is going fully down.
