Or do like I did and get a plug turned to fit the inside of the brass cage. I made one myself out of a lump of alloy and used silicon sealant to hold it in place. That way you don't need to get O ring grooves machined in the outside of the bung which makes it simpler and cheaper.

              Terry,

When I needed one, they weren't in stock anywhere, so I used the cage to make my own. Looks like it's catching on!

                      Gents,

I am looking to use a cage (when I find someone who has a spare....anyone have one please?) as a bung and machine up an internal bung to fit inside as I have seen on previous posts such as this. However I am a little unsure how those that have done this have stopped the engine oil getting past the joint between the bung OD and the ID of the cage, and up and out through the water flinger holes. I ask as this as the bung descriptions mention making it a sliding fit in the cage and on occasion using some form of bonding agent. Is it the bonding agent making the seal and stopping the transfer of oil in the bung - cage joint, or am I not quite understanding this approach please?

                      Thanks as always

                      Mark

In the end I just plugged it with freeze plugs.. you need 2, one for the oil and a slightly bigger one for the water.
