    Irs

    Hi there,

Considering my Stag project has turned into a proper loooong-term affair for several reasons, I've also revisited the idea of upgrades and suchlike. Considering X308 Jags are so cheap at least over here I thought the independent rear suspension out of that might be worth considering instead of the BMW alternative. Has anyone tried fitting the Jaguar IRS, as without any detailed knowledge of either setup it just sounds like a plausible option..?

    Thanks,
    Joakim

I would be interested in any other options for rear suspension/subframe/diff etc .. those BMW are getting ridiculously expensive, using an alternative donor car like a jag as you mentioned would be much cheaper

hi , I don't have any specific knowledge on this , but if you look in this months Soc magazine , there is a photo taken around early nineties of a stag pick up with the jaguar rear set up belonging to a now defunked business known as the stagman ! Regards graham

Thanks Graham, now that you mention I do remember reading that article. Will have to do a little more reasearch about that car to hopefully get some further ideas and tips.

@kev - Exactly my thought as well, suitable donor Beemers are getting scars and expensive, so a Jag alternative seems on the surface as a good idea.

        Cheers,
        Joakim

Is there anything really wrong with the original IRS itself?
Regarding diffs, there are others, just the focus is on BMW.
The Nissan R200 diff is popular overseas, and has been fitted to TR6's, so the Stag should be possible I would think.
          Drive shafts are sorted.
Again looking at TR6's that use the trailing arm, Wilwood rear disc conversions are available, so again the Stag should be possible too.
