    I have a garage!😀

    IMG_3432.jpgIMG_3431.jpgIMG_3433.jpg

As you've probably gathered from the title, a good friend has given me the use of a large, dry garage with light, power, heat and water - it's a even got a sink and a dehumidifier! Suffice to say I am very pleased.
My question is around the age and condition of the osr suspension strut in the photos. It looks a little bent and the bottom rubber bush looks perished? The bottom half can be slightly moved in relation to the top half in the vertical?

Are they always like this, or should I replace and if so, with what / where from?

    Thanks all

    Well done on the garage...

If it were me, I'd change those shock absorbers; they look well past their best and the rubbers have perished. Always change them in a pair. What you change them for really depends on what you want to spend and how (and how much) you use the car. If you are looking for a low-budget, standard option, then go for something like James Paddocks GSA374 at £16-50 each, plus VAT. They will do the trick and last for years. Personally, I have used their more expensive Gas-A-Just GSA374G units at £65 each, plus VAT, for many years without problems. The ones on my current Stag have been there since before I bought it nearly 9 years and 30,000 miles ago. I also had the same make/type on my previous Stag for many years.

If you have deep pockets, and aspirations of being a rally driver, then you can got for more expensive, adjustable types.

Well done on getting a garage sorted! Now who do I know who'd happily give me a garage to use...?

As for the rubber bushes you can probably get some half decent ones from the usual suspects, although as with all classic car related rubber products the quality might not be much better than what you've got at the moment.... Perhaps time to consider poly bushes?

      Cheers,
      Joakim

I've used poly bushes on my GAZ adjustable shock absorbers. The rubber ones are in a bag somewhere.

Put polly bushes on mine but only after I replaced the dampers.
