have you not used the car for a while, some times the seals dry out a bit,use the car on a run but keep an eye on the temp, with luck it will fix its self,
hi dave yes your right I haven't used it for a few weeks and had to top up coolant today must keep driving it
wheels next week will let you know
cheers
The water pump seal runs against the underside of the impeller and it is these surfaces that keep the water inside the block. If the car isn't used regularly, and the coolant has lost its corrosion inhibitor, the seal surface under the impeller corrodes, giving you the infamous 'water in the vee'. Regular use will help keep the seal surface clean, but the only real solution is to fit a ceramic seal such as this: http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...6860d6260ea912
If the water pump is otherwise healthy, then make sure the antifreeze corrosion inhibitors are up to strength, and use it regularly.

It is possible that the water pump seal is on its way out, but before you start stripping it out try getting hold of a bottle of "Bars Leaks" solution, can be obtained on line, and dose the system. It will condition and fix any small leaks, lubricating all moving parts, including the car heater valve. My mate up in Liverpool who is an ex radiator manufacturer swears by it!

K-Seal is generally considered a better product. But each to their own. The water pump seal is a surface contact rotating seal, so additives are not going to provide a permanent solution.

The best way to use Bars leak (if it's the type with particles in it) Is take the bottle and place it in your right hand. put your hand as far behind your back as you can and then Lob it in to the distance
This stuff is a sure fire way to block up your radiator, heater matrix or anywhere else where it can settle...........

When all else fails, read the instructions.

And though I agree whole heartedly it is Satans Own cooling system sealant, it was the official sealant of the Jag V12 motor, and listed in the Jaguar Parts Manual
