    What are these wires for?

This wire exits the loom on the right hand side of the car and has two terminals on the transmission tunnel and one under the passenger seat. None of the terminals are connected to anything. The ones on the tunnel were under the carpet and the one under passenger seat emerged from under carpet and just sat under the seat!
    What should they be doing?
    Thanks Jon

Seat Belt sensor wires i would think, there is a pressure sensor in seat base. Mine has same but no seat pad

Those do look like seat belt sensor wires but I didn't know the Stag ever had seat belt warning lights. My Range Rovers did, and the connectors look very similar.

Yes for the seat belt warning light, mark II Stags.
Middle pair for the seat belt buckles and the one on the passenger side for the passenger seat pressure pad...so that the warning light does not illuminate with no passenger and and passenger seat belt unbuckled.
For a period (and maybe still the case) you could not buy replacement seat buckles with the required sensors, so many have the system disconnected, including mine.

From LD30001, 4th Sanction, which started in September 1973, which was before the last of the 3rd Sanction, LD20000 series cars (of which mine is one of the last) were completed.

Dave - My car is chassis no. LD44729A, engine no. LF044359HEA and wasn't 1st registered until the 1st of January 1978.
My question is - What were the actual last modifications (changes) they made to the Mk2 car before it went out of production?
I believe mine was made in June 1977 but not registered as sold until 1978.

Sorry to go to a bit off thread. Although it is a 1973 car my Stag has at some stage been retrofitted with a much later engine and a BW65 autobox. The engine number as far as I can deduce is LF47506HEA but given that Terrys Stag was one of the last is this a possible engine number or am I misreading the 7 for a 1 or 4?

The V5c still shows the earlier engine no.

              TIA H

                Terry,

Here is the list. Not sure if this is breaching copyright, so take the info you need before it is removed by someone who decides it is. If not copyright, then perhaps the attachment could be put into the Technical Section.

Thanks very much for that Dave - looks like my car had all the latest changes except for the change from a 6 to a 12 vane water pump, and I know the last is true because I changed my water pump some time ago, but opted for the 6 vane one as it's replacement,
and there has been some considerable discussion previously on here about which is best - 6 or 12 vane.

Ah yes, that makes sense. I don't have original seat belt centre fasteners which is why the middle ones were hidden under the carpet I presume.

According to the info Dave sent me, the last engine modification took place from engine no. LF44931 and was the change from a 6 vane to a 12 vane water pump. That was fairly near the end of the production run, but I don't know the engine no. of the very last one, but don't think it will have reached the number you are quoting "H".
