    Seats

    Hi,

Does anyone have a photo of the underside of a seat where I can see how the diaphragm is attached to the seat with the hooks? I would like to replace the diaphragms on my seats, because the PO only used tarpaulins. And these seem to be to soft.

    Regards

    Hi Neil,

thank you for the helpful links.

It looks like the diaphragm should be clipped on as the basis for the build up of the entire seat.
But I only want to exchange the diaphragms. Will that work?

Thank you, Klaus. Obviously, it's an improvement.

As far as l remember, you will need new hooks with the new diaphragm as the old ones are to short.

there are two types of diaphragms available,a thin one or thick one,the thick one is the best type to fit,but is harder to fit as its stronger ,i know Jim from South East Trimmers sells the thick type,i have used them myself

Can't check this at the moment, but I think the difference between "high" and "low" is very small and not noticeable.

Might explain it then, how many turns should I get? Mines about 3 but the seat seems a little higher than I remember, mind you it's got freshly retrimmed seats too.

Gerd, if you have not already finished your diaphragm project:

I found it helpful to use long tie strips through the holes in the rubber in order to pull the diaphragm close enough to the frame and then fix the metal hooks.

I used a large old screwdriver with a vee saw cut in it to push the hooks towards the frame (AWAY from me as I did not want to stab myself)
I used very strong cord from the diaphragm tied to the up/down mechanism to wind it towards the frame first
Still a strong-arm job Good Luck & Enjoy
Makes the seat feel great when done

I have turned mine both ways and am sure that any change is psychosomatic. I was toying with using a dial gauge to measure the movement!

That sounds like a good idea. Today I started with the passenger seat. And it was hard enough to get the tarpaulin off. It looks like I have to take the seat runners off. Will see how it works.
