    Britain's Favourite Classic

This is probably old news already, but I only this morning read the December issue of Practical Classics and it is nice to see that the Stag is still in the top ten; more specifically it's the ninth most popular classic in Britain right now.

    Cheers,
    Joakim

PS. Might the owner of the featured brown Stag with reg no. UNN986S be an SOC member on here..?

Yes, I was pleased to see that too. I'm a subscriber to PC and have been regular reader for 20 years. I love the fact that it is so eclectic. I think it's well written and full of of good technical information. I've enjoyed the series of engine dismantles and photos immensely and love Sam Glover's insane adventures in former Iron Curtain countries buying up old Eatern Bloc chariots and driving them back to Blighty.

You just never know what you're going to get from one month to the next.

I met the owner of the brown Stag at our last noggin and natter at the end of last month. He and his wife attended on the day. Evidently the all day photoshhoot was a bore and the facilities for guests at Millbrook were non-existent. However the craic with the other owners was good.

It's PC redoing their top 100 survey of the Brits' favourite classic car, the previous survey was done in 2004.

The winner this year was the Morris Minor, think it was the most popular last time as well. The E-type came in second place this year, unsurprisingly. I can't recall reading how many people have voted but guess it would be few thousand at least.

                Hi Paul,

The Morris Minor won once again, then Jag E-type in second followed by Austin Mini, Ford Cortina and the MGB to round off the top five.

                Cheers,
                Joakim

Thanks, Joakim. No great surprises there. It is interesting that the Triumph Stag made it into the top ten, though. Well, in my humble opinion. We know they're wonderful cars but I wouldn't have thought they would be that well known. Perhaps it's something to do with discerning readers of Practical Classics...
