Synthetic oil?

I'm sure we haven't discussed engine oil for a year, so it's time again.

Has anyone experience with a fully synthetic engine oil for the Stag? VR1 is available in a 10W60 fully synthetic for £40 per 5L and I thought about trying it.

Remember the discussion about ZDDP and flat tappet engines. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

Don't quote me, but ISTR that there is a 20/50 Mobil (1??) synthetic oil meant for motorbikes which is high in ZDDP that some folks stick in OHC engines. Probably not cheap though!

Now that I've reduced my business mileage I'm only doing three oil changes per year, so a bit extra per change isn't too dreadful!

Miller's Oil claims to have a high ZDDP content. Probably my next line of research.

I'm only asking because mineral VR1 seems to be getting harder to find.

Thanks! I checked and they sell three 5l cans for less than £80 with free delivery.

That should keep me going until next Christmas!
