    National Day 2017 (update)

As you mostly probably know there was a late revision of dates for the F1 GP at Silverstone which has resulted in a late revision of published dates for several major events including Bicester Flywheel and consequently our National Day.
I am one of the organisers as listed in this months magazine ,(plus plenty of backup) so I can keep those interested updated as planning progresses.
We had a meeting today . The National Day is now Sunday June 25th, at the Bicester Flywheel event as planned previously.

Our plans are still being evolved, but basically we are based at The Holt Hotel from Friday 23rd. We have a couple of runs organised for Saturday around local places of interest. The Hotel has reserved 20 rooms for us at a special Club rate.
Sunday we have a stand at Bicester Heritage and concession rates for SOC members , tickets can be purchased from Lesley, closing date May 31st. Contact info will be published soon, watch the website etc.
We are only involved at Bicester Heritage on the Sunday, but of course anybody can go on the Saturday, just book direct with Bicester Heritage. We can also offer access to a Steam Rally at nearby Bloxham, free entry to Classic Car exhibitors, Saturday and or Sunday. (I am doubled up as section leader for this event!)

The organising is still evolving, this update should inform all of what is happening. Feel free to pm me any query, if this thread can be made "Sticky" I can update regularly. Feedback is also good.

Accomodation in the area may become in short supply, try Premier Inns Banbury/Bicester or many local hotels. We have chosen The Holt Hotel at Hopcrofts Holt as a base, Bicester is 8 miles away, and about 2 miles away is Sturdys Castle hotel/restaurant who only do online bookings but is very nice and modern.

We have a good concession rate at The Holt, book by phone 01869 340259 (Emma) Quote Stag Owners Club, they will sort out room types etc and meal arrangements. Most info is in the December Magazine. Plenty of parking at The Holt and some rooms overlook parking area so you can keep an eye on your beloved Stag!

    Will update as we progress.

www.holthotel.co.uk (but book by phone for Club Rate)

book a table book a room our events our history we are a 400-Year-Old Coaching Inn Sturdy’s Castle Country Inn is is a beautiful 400-year-old coaching inn located between the West Oxfordshire villages of Tackley and Kidlington and a stone’s throw from Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. It is an ideal place for travelers to dine, […]

            Hi Ian
We had dogs as an issue when we did ours because of the airfield but they did allow dogs if on leads only. Might be worth checking out

Cant have Dogs as it is a working airfield.

But you can take dogs in to the Steam Rally....there may even be a show for them and you could win a prize!

Hi Richard, Not having a moan and do appreciate the efforts of those that make things happen. I myself, until recently was quite involved in event organisation for our club area so I know whats involved having arranged the clubs participation at the Bromley Pageant 4 times in a row.

Sadly, and its how I see it, not enough people are prepared to get involved and make things happen (Hence why I gave it up) it would seem proper ND's are going to be a thing of the past now.

As I have said, now I have two Border Collies they are included in whatever we do if it means long days or overnight stays.

Thanks for you and your teams efforts anyway.

                      Ian.

Not as far as I know, but its early days yet for traders to book.

I did think it may be an idea for us to have a Stag parts swap table on our stand. What do you think?

will be good to have something rather than nothing.
But auto jumble stand would be better if you can sort out

When we did our Essex National we had a big stand with second hand parts that were sold for members with a 10% fee and it was full and raised money. Nothing was left
