The inner u/j on one of my Datsun driveshafts is running rough and needs replacing. If anyone has done this job, or knows where to get a new u/j, please let me know. So far I have been unable to find a replacement u/j online. The shafts were common on 180B and other Datsuns of the '70's and '80's. I have a part number of RUJ2028, but can't find a UK supplier. Yes, I have tried the local Nissan parts department and had about as much success as I used to get asking a MG-Rover parts department for Stag bits..............

Cheers Neil. The Datsun Owners Club won't allow non-members to read their forum, so I can't find out much from that. I have already spoken to Ian at Monarch and he is trying to contact the guy who used to do their Datsun shafts. He said he might as well take the Datsun shafts off his website as he can no longer get any stock. He imported the last lot of shafts from Aus, but they've run out now......Dave

Dave,
Have you tried Chris Witor?
When I rebuilt mine I got all the bits from him, but it was several years ago.
Failing that you could try a Nissan specialist from across the pond.
I contacted a Nissan specialist last year to see if he had any halfshafts available and was told he did have several sets but no one wanted them so he took them to the scrapyard!

I found a contact for probably the last pair of Datsun 180b driveshafts I'd found in the UK and advertised them on this forum because I'd decided to go the CCD CV driveshafts with the new hubs and stub axles instead, only had one reply from the forum and so I passed all the info on to him for him to buy.
You can buy the Nissan 240 driveshafts from the States on E bay, cost about £120 depends on how the auction goes, then postage and packaging and VAT and Customs, likely about £200-220 into the UK and then into the modifying of the UJs etc probably about a further £150 ish. Makes the CCD driveshafts complete with new hubs which can have the bearing replaced when necessary easily and with uprated and new stubaxle a much better and safer proposition and that's what I went for.

Thanks for the leads, guys. Plenty for me to follow up on over the next few days.
My shafts came from Tonyp1 on here. They don't have the hybrid Tri-Dat joints on the outer end. They have been machined so that both u/js are the same Datsun ones both ends.Dave
