    Wing covers/protectors

Can anyone recommend some decent wing covers please.

I'm looking for some supple, oil/water proof ones with good magnets to hold them in place that will fit the Stag properly, and not scuff or scratch the paint.

The present pair of old cotton curtains suitably folded and tucked into the engine bay do the job after a fashion, but keep falling off at the wrong time, or get in the way the rest of the time.

I tried some from Machine Mart but returned them as they were too stiff and the magnets about as much use as a solar-powered foghorn. I don't want to mail-order some then have to return them if they're no good, so if someone can recommend some they have and find ok to use on the Stag then all the better.

I have some from Rimmers, they are not magnetic and i had to widen the clip a little so they'd stay put but they’re fine.

i bought 2 wing covers for my TR6 from the TR register club shop and they are on my Stag at the moment . no clips just drop them on and the stay there. I think about £20 each plus postage.
if your interested i could send you more details

I use a couple of bath towels from Asda, correctly folded they stay where they're put and keep my grubby hands off the paintwork. They were white but not any more after the head gaskets job even after several washes at 90°…

Try Aldridge Trimming (suspect they make them for the trade) fixes to the wing gutter. Very effective with a nice stag logo!

I also have the Aldridge covers.

They are good but I found the way they clip onto the wing gutter a problem.
They were very tight and damaged the paint where the teeth of the securing system gripped the gutter.
I opened the fixing system up but that meant that they wouldn't grip properly and kept falling off. There's not much leeway between being too tight or not tight enough.

I decided to make a couple of straps as per the photo and secure the cover utilising the studs of the Stud Strut Mounting.

I have shown the items used - nylon cable tie, crimped ring electrical connectors and domed nuts.

I used green on one side and red on the other and if I could only remember which side is Port and Starboard, I'd be laughing.

The covers themselves are great, I just didn't like the fixing system.

              Hope this helps

Use masking tape to hold them in place?

I use large old Beach Towels, and like someone else said you can hold them in place with a bit of masking tape.

                      What a superb fix Paul.
I'm going to save this and look at doing the same to mine when I've finished overhauling the suspension.

Problem with that Terry is the sand can scratch the paintwork
