Evening All
I need to remove the front brake disc dust shields as they are damaged. They are secured by a single setscrew which runs through the lower part of the strut/hub assembly. One of the shields came off after use of PLusgas, lots of heat and brute force loosed the setscrew.
However, the setscrew on the other strut just will not shift. I don't believe I am able to apply sufficient heat with my blowlamp. Have any of you tried either of the following two ideas?
a) place the assembly on the gas hob of the cooker and leave on there to cook until a nice cheery red. Remove, apply Plusgas and then attempt to remove the setscrew.
b) using a drill bit, hollow out thebottom 1/2 inch section of the setscrew which has the thread on it. I believe that this will weaken it thereby allowing the setscrew to move when subjected to heat and force.
Suggestions, comments welcome.

Bruce
