Stag to Barcelona?

Has anyone driven their Stag to Barcelona or Monte Carlo?

We need to be in Barcelona at the end of June for a conference, and I think it'll be a nice two-day run down through France, and across the Millau Viaduct.

If you've done a run down through France in your Stag I'd be interested to hear of your experiences.

Yes to both Barcelona and Monte Carlo, but we took our time; we were touring with our caravan.. Lots of stories, for example, having the clutch slave cylinder fail just outside Monte Carlo; having my run round the Monaco circuit ruined by a dozy Ferrari getting in my way; etc.

I've driven to Monte Carlo in mine. Drove the track but a BMW X something or other ruined the tunnel for me as I wanted to hear my car echo!

Just take your time, the motorways are usually clear.

David, what's the weight of the caravan you tow with the Stag mine is way to heavy for the stag at just over 1400kg's

Ian, it is an old van - 4-5 berth but only weighs about 950Kg. Not been used for about 6 years but can't see anything to replace it with because of weight. Modern vans weigh about 50% more than equivalents from 1980's.
Used to tour Europe every summer when my wife was alive, and we took the 2 kids till they were about 16 years old. Fabulous holidays, greatly enhanced by the best possible car for the task.

Thanks for the reply David, that certainly is a light van and explains how the Stag can tow it. We have just returned to the hobby after 25+ years. They have have certainly come a long way in terms of creature comforts since we last toured but at the cost of becoming increasingly heavier. Some I believe, when loaded are nearly 2000kgs.
