S S S Sills

Hello,
My first post since joining.
I have started renovation from the offside front corner working back and have got everything nice and flat and rust free.
I have got to the sill area and realise they need replacing it looks like I have to remove the front wing I have just restored, arghh!!

Could someone point me to a thread that deals with sill replacement causing the least collateral damage?

hi mike do a search ,top right hand corner of page type in keywords may take a bit of trawling but there is a vast knowledge there at your disposal.

the front and rear quartes of wings need to be removed to access sill fully but can be saved if good and refitted after .
welcome aboard as this is your first post ,throw up a few pics you will get lots of good advice on here .

The usual seems to be to cut the wing on the sill line and fold down to get to the front of the sill - that's what I did on mine when I renewed it

Sorry you have found this out the hard way, but yes, the sill should be replaced whilst the wing is off. Otherwise, as Russ says, cut the lower section off then weld it back on again after replacing the sill. Yes Steve, nothing has changed. Sometimes I get notifications for the same thread, sometimes I don't and have to always click activity button to make sure.

Steve, didn't get a notification of this again and was not showing in new posts, I found it in Activity Stream again.
