we're all goin on a summer holiday

We have decided to go on safari - well from Scotland to England - for a trial touring holiday this summer (09) Does anyone have any suggestions for us newbies for scenic routes? K7

Carlisle to Skipton via Appleby, Kirby Stephen, Garsdale, Dent station, Ribblehead, Settle is a superb drive.

After you've done that down the M6 towards Chester... (good place to stop)

Then North Wales is your oyster... from Chester to Llangollen

Llangollen to Corwen towards Betwys-y-Coed. Then up to Llandudno, accross to Conwy,
along the coast to Anglesey and Beaumaris. From here head towards Caernarfon, then
head towards Llanberis (Snowdon) , down to Porthmadog (and Port Meirion) and then a lovely coast road to Barmouth. From here head to Bala and then east to Welshpool and finally Shrewsbury.

Castles, Snowdonia, beaches, mountains, a few valleys, bi-lingual road signs and two english towns.... phew!

Loads of good places to stay, just hope it don't rain!

Pob lwc yn gogledd Gymru amser 2009!

I'll second that - having lived just outside Conwy for 17 years, and my son now lives in Chester. Lovely area.

On your way back, Carlisle to Berwick. Absolute magic when the sun is throwing long shadows on a summer evening and a very interesting road
