Loads of options available.
One of those things that is only going to be of usage if your car is nicked, unless you need to track other drivers of the car!
Hi Brian, I keep my Stag in a Lock-up and decided to put a 'Tile' in my car. When the car is shut away and can't be located the Tile App on my phone will look for the Tile and notify me when it finds it. This should be when I go to take the car out. Any other time will have me panicking.
I know this is not as good as a proper Tracker, but it only cost me £25 from Maplin and there I are no subscription costs.
Also it gives me a little piece of mind when the car is gone for a sleep over. It never seems to go to a Garage and return the same day.
What attracted me was it is cheap, it has a dedicated app and it uses Bluetooth to narrow the search.
It's never going to be as good as a dedicated Tracker system, mainly because it must be easy to detect. I picked it up in Oxford Street and set off the theft alarm in every shop I entered after that!
My thinking was that for a modest outlay you're getting a bit more piece of mind than if you had nothing fitted.
Another benefit is that I can now use my Stag to find my phone because the 'Tile' can be used in reverse.

Oh yes, did I mention it's cheap?
Problem with Tiles is that they rely on close proximity bluetooth, or work off a hive bluetooth mentality, but you are relying on other tile users to be within range of your car to locate it .. which i think would be very rare
It has its place, but not as a car locator if it has been nicked .. it is more of a close proximity locator.
Thanks, I'm looking to fit something more permanent and secure going forward. The locks aren't going to stop anyone. I have an immobiliser fitted, but it's old and I think this will need updating as well.

That GPS tracker TK103B Alarm System VG2 is a good bet, does both tracking and is an alarm, also will cut the engine if you send it a command .. for safety reasons the engines cut outs on trackers will cut out only when the speed is less than 20mph ...
Of course if you wanted a higher spec alarm then you would need to install a stand alone alarm system independent of the tracker as that tracker only has basic alarm functions
This is the link to the install/user manual sm.thinkmpi.com/support/Vtrack/TK103/tk103.pdf
Yes, I'm glad you told me that. Checked the website and you're correct. It's not a GPS locator and relys on other Tile users to pinpoint the Tile when out of range.

If everybody who had a mobile phone had a tile device .. its still would be nowhere as good as a GPS tracker .. the tile is good at what it does as I mentioned, local .. very very local location, i.e as far as the bT on your phone will reach .. that's all really
Thanks again, that looks good. My car being away from home and not being used much this time of year needs something like that.
Sorry Brian, I didn't mean to hijacked your thread.
If you get one, you will need to put a prepayed sim card in, Three seem to be the best ones as the credit never runs out, some sims you have to use the credit in 90 days or something like that or loose it .. 10 quid should easily last 6 months or more, depending on how you use the tracker ... http://www.three.co.uk/Store/SIM/Pay...=3mainprbn1244
Funny enough that was what led me to the Tile. I was trying to find a decent sim only deal without success. I have new Tesco and GifGaf sims sitting on the side, but neither fitted the bill.

They can be handy though.
I have a few, and the Mrs have a few Tiles.
Therefore I have the app, and she has the app on her phone too.
So, say I forget my wallet, that has a Tile slim inside, I can look on the app (and if the Mrs is at home with her phone) it will instantly tell me if my wallet is at home in real time.
For even though my wallet is on my Tile account, it will report back to Tile 'invisibly' my wallets location through my Mrs phone.
