Is it the choke mechanism, the 2 has a disc, the 1 a lever that lifts the metering needle. See the section on cold starting on this document.

Neil, if you read the section on "Starting From Cold" it makes a clear distiction between the 175cd and the 175cd2s. This is why I thought that the diference was the choke.
