Full respray - Cost of materials?

I wonder if anyone has a 'ball park' figure of just the material costs of a respray (no labour). I know paint can vary enormous with a small amount of exotic metalflake costing the earth but I mean just the material cost of a single triumph colour with all the associated primers and undercoats, compounds etc.

Just a rough idea required - Thanks Alan

Alan, when I sprayed mine a few years ago, I paid £10 per litre for black cellulose, 2 pack was about £45 per litre (not metallic). Can't remember price of primer but same one ok for both paints.

If you ring car paints in Caversham they will give you an up to date price and probably amount needed too depending on coats, celly needing more.

Ok lets see who can top who.

I eventually went to auto paint in Aldermaston Alan as Caversham do not supply celly, but any online car paint supplier will give you all the info you need.........unless someone can top that and I'm sure they will!

As I said and also the nearest to you will be in Caversham, very helpful staff too.

Getting back to your original question Alan as opposed to who can supply what, If I remember correctly I used about 4 litres primer and I always allowed at least half a litre a panel when I was spraying in the old days but used 5 litres on the Stag as no roof on mine. Don't forget filler, masking tape and most important same amount of thinners, any for priming but best hi gloss for finish.

I did mine inside , outside and underneath in epoxy primer, primer, 2K colour and clearcoats and my paint bill was about £650.00. Allow for 1 gallon of thinners for cleaning guns etc, & panel wipe to degrease panels during the work.

Just checked my receipts and came out around £625 without items like scratch, mask and polishing compound etc., but including underseal and rustproofing.
