    Heater Matrix Pipes...

    Hello,
I have a MK2 N reg Stag and would like to check which way round the heater matrix pipes should be. Does the long pipe from the passenger side cylinder head go to the top heater matrix pipe, and the short pipe coming from the pump rail go to the bottom heater matrix pipe? Or is it the other way round?
    Regards,

I dont think it makes any difference either way, its only a radiator.

I think it left the factory the other way around. i.e., with the long pipe from the passenger side cylinder head to the bottom heater matrix pipe. I am sure someone will be along shortly to correct me if I am wrong!

        Hi Lagnakeil.
The heater will get hot whichever way the hoses are connected, but the correct way is for the pipe from the cylinder head to go to the lower heater connection. Done this way round, there is no possibility of getting air trapped in the matrix, as the upper connection goes to the "Suck" side of the water pump. Done the other way, you can get all sorts of gurgling noises, and if the heater valve is only partly open, you may find you need to open it fully every now and then to clear the air out.
        Mike.
