Mark. If you have an "Original" one, you just need to prise the chrome bezel off the rubber backing, then remove the glass. The bulb is one of those capless ones.
Mike.
Hi Mike, thanks for your reply.
I managed to remove it. I wasn't sure if it was bayonet, or screw fixing - but now i know it just required pulling out.
thanks

Hi Mark,
Am I being stupid? I can't remove mine.
How did you do it?
you have to push the grommet/seal back a bit to be able to get enough purchase on the bulb - then just pull!
Thanks Mark,
I couldn't get a grip with my fingers so reverted to the long nose pliers and managed to remove it without breaking it!!, only to find that the bulb is fine.
I'm not sure I'm going to worry too much about tracing the fault.
Check the "push Button" by the right hand boot lid spring that operates the light.
Could be stuck or have a broken/bad connection wire. I re-located said button on my mine as
it wasnt always being pushed down/released when the lid was opened and closed.
Worth while checking because on mine the boot light was remaining on when I shut the boot - draining the Battery.

Thanks for that.
I did check it and it was a bit sticky but it doesn't seem to be the problem.
I think the contacts inside the bulb holder may be the culprit, this could also account for the difficulty in removing the bulb, but they don’t look that easy to get to!!
Hey ho, you don't get this level of fun with modern cars.
