Floor Sound Deadening Removal ???

Hello!

Does anyone know how to remove the sound deadening that covers the four floor pans in the car? It will be replaced once the floors are repaired.

A hot air gun will soften it enough to use a heavy duty paint scraper
This will probably destroy it so you will need to replace after the repair work
If possible do it in a well ventilated area

use an old wood chisel and hammer tap it,when cold it brakes up in big bits

This was needed on a small area on my car.
Before the welding was done, I cut though the deadening with a hot stanley blade, about 70mm away from where the nearest weld would be.
Then chiseled / scraped off the area.
After the area was repaired is was ground back to flush & painted with red oxide.
Then a new piece of sound-deadening was placed on top, overlapping by about 6mm.
Then a hot blade was used to cut through both thicknesses.
The new & old was peeled away at the cut, leaving 2 edges that were mating at the cut.
A hot air torch was used to amalgamate the old & new at the cut.
The join & new was covered with body colour paint.
The result is as good as new, pretty much undetectable when the carpets are pulled away to inspect.
I'll try to post a pic sometime, its lasted very well.
The success was down to a very flush butt weld & careful grinding back, together with a reasonable paint match.
