Removing Pulley from Power steering pump?

Now, I'm thinking of replacing the steering pump and can get one that has the pulley on back to front and suits a Rover...I shall return it to its original position,,,,However, with what do I prevent the pulley from rotating so as to remove the nut..
    All help much appreciated

    Hi Bonnietiler
I removed mine by holding the pulley with 2 hands while my brother unscrewed the nut with an impact wrench.
    Best wishes

Another way (which I sucessfully used some years ago) is a large dog lead (chain & strap) with strap wrapped round the pulley and chain part looped (fastened) through one of the engine lifting holes to stop it moving, then using a torque wrench on the nut to loosen it.

Wrapped an old power steering belt round mine which I trapped in a vice and used that to hold the pulley.
