    Just read this and I am very worried if this does become reality we won't be driving our beloved pastimes anymore!:shock:

      I was on holiday in Scotland when that was posted, I have just read about it in the Classics Monthly mag so thought I would mention it!:P

          The article only supports any scheme that incentivises scrapping, it does not support (and actually disapproves) any punitive measures (eg increased taxing) on owners of older cars. Also there is no mention of eliminating historic vehicle status.

            I think the fact that the price of scrape metal hasdropped of late should put a stop to any more of these 'green' ideas - for the time being any way.

              If I remember correctly the R.A.C. was bought out by Ford about 10 years ago. Probably a back door approach to sell more new cars.

                I saw on the news a couple of weeks ago about France doing something like this but it was done buy amoney incentive of £1000 off the price of a new car when you scrap a car over a certain age.

                Lets hope it takes that form if it does come into play.
