Engine number - can it be correct?

Hi, I have just received the Heritage Certificate for my new Stag.

Build date is Oct 76 and chassis number LD/43000-A, all seems OK.

But the engine number provided by Heritage is LF/147-HEA. Does this make is a very early MK2 engine?
    The V5 just says LFHEA

The engine fitted is LF/42910HEA which seems more likely as it sort of corresponds the the chassis number.

What is the different between an LE and LF prefix engine, if any?

Could it be that the heritage record is wrong for my car?

Difference between an LE and LF prefix engine is compression ratio amonst othe things.
Have a look here:- under specification

My stag is a November 76 build, and your comment has prompted me to look at the heritage cert. The log book lists it as LF 434** HEA, but the heritage cert is the same number but prefix LH. The numbers are within 20 of the chassis number. Unless corrected, i don't think that there is an LH engine prefix, so I assume that my heritage cert is incorrect. I can't check the car as it lost its original engine in the mists of time.

It's not unknown for the certificate to be wrong, mine came back with the colour shown as SAMOSA not mimosa.

                Hi

My MOT is coming up and I thought I may ask my classic friendly garage to give me a note to DVLA on their letterhead to get my engine no. changed from the gobledegook (resemblant of Rover V8 but not correct syntax by long way) on the V5C.

OK My 73 Stag has got a later engine with a BW65 gearbox and as far as I can discern the engine no. is 47506HEA. Since this is somewhat indistict I am asking if any forum member can confirm that this is a "real" engine no. as if so it must have been at the very end of the engines produced other than the HSS rebuilds. The other obvious answer is it is 41506HEA but afaics the second character is a 7.

Many websites give a "from" date/number but none seem to give a "to" date and more importantly "last" number.

                TIA

                H

My build date is October 1976. My chassis number is LD43244 and engine number is LF/42953-HE. As actually marked on items and as shown on my heritage certificate. The numbers closely match your numbers for an October 1976 build. You will be able to get historical vehicle tax now as well. Hope that helps. Mark
