rather disillusioned - my own fault

I've been on the lookout for some 'parts' in excellent condition. Some came available and a conversation took place and some poor photos were exchanged. I was assured the 'parts' were very good and indeed the photos suggested they were, some were supposed to be almost new. A price was agreed and I agreed to also pay rather a lot for 48 hours courier service so they would arrive last Thursday in time for the weekend.

The 'parts' didn't arrive within 48 hours, they arrived today, six days later (i know bank holiday problems).

The condition of the 'parts' is not excellent, not even very good, they clean up OK but the painted areas are clearly very badly hand painted. The almost new 'parts' are date marked as 2012 although they don't look to have been used much at all.

Now I have no comeback against the seller and accept buyer beware should be a mantra. I've been buying things over the internet since the internet started and never been disappointed or have felt misled. I guess I've grown to trust like minded enthusiasts a little too much.

I'm not going to name the seller or identify the 'parts', but simply want to warn fellow enthusiasts to take care purchasing over the internet no matter how 'trustworthy' the seller may seem.

    entirely my fault.

Have you tried contacting the seller? He comes across as being a decent chap. (Doesn't take much detective work to figure what you bought and from where!)

If it was ebay report the items as not as described and request your money back .. with ebay the power is with the buyer .. ebay are not interested in the seller at all ...

Yep, I feel this too, I bought some used stag parts via ebay.
        Quite a few now.
Two of the purchases ensued as follows:-
The advert said what is in the photo is 'what you get' (lazy listing)
What was sent was not what was in the photo.
I felt fortunate to get a reply....
1st chap eventually apologised saying that it was all due to the costs of sending his daughter to university!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2nd chap said I could have the rest if i paid some more money.....which I did.

Anyway, the parts were not new stag parts, so they needed/ will need some work before they could be used......but even more sadly that seems to be the case with the new parts too now.

And I have recently felt like getting rid of the stag due to poor quality parts and perhaps just keeping the merc, which seems to have a better quality of new or used parts available.

However, the stag is still with me for the moment or ??????

PS trying to sort out any parts quality , both personally or work related is becoming too difficult imho.

no I'm not going to get into any slanging matches and have already said I accept responsibility. I should have been more cautious.

You shouldn't accept responsibility for something that was missold to you .. we all have rights when it comes to buying things, even things on ebay .. the major thing people are guilty for and should take more responsibility for is not knowing what rights they have and what action to take .. if we all knew this, it would stop a lot of the scams and mis selling going on because it would end up costing the sellers too much money

eBay for example .. if the item is not as described .. you request a refund and describe the problem .. it's up to the seller to pay for collection, and 9 times out of 10 they won't bother because it would cost them more money to do that .. so you end up with your cash back, and many times with free parts ... if ebay rule against you, you end up with the parts anyway and it's cost you nothing ... or they may offer a partial refund so they dont end up paying for the return delivery. either way its nothing to loose

Of course I dont know if you used ebay for this purchase or not ... but there are other rights for purchases outside of ebay

            "Refund the buyer

If a buyer wants a refund for an item that didn't match the listing description:

We ask the buyer to post the item back to you—with tracking information—within 14 business days.

Your refund to the buyer is the total purchase price plus the original postage charge.

You're also required to pay for the return postage charges.
            "

              I knew this was coming..

You whined and haggled about the price,so I reduced it.

You then demanded delivery that week.I tried my best by taking the wheels to the depot myself..
I was then not in control of the 48 hr service..

You were then going to be out at certain times..

And now you are not happy with the wheels and tyres..

If you are that dissatisfied then send them back and I will refund you less the courier charge..I dont need your money..

I am not untrustworthy,I do my best for people, and that is the bit of your explanation that riles me the most..

I would have sent me a pm or to my e-mail address rather than "air your dirty washing in public" but if this is the way you want to do it thats fine by me..
