Radiator Repair Not Stag

Had a mishap yesterday when fitting an alternator to the wife's Moggie Minor and ended up with a small hole in the radiator. Don't ask how I did it as it embarrassing to say the least. Anyone know if having a radiator re-cored is a cheaper option than buying a new radiator at £108?

The new rad seems reasonable price and I would guess recore would not be too different. Is there a rad specialist near you who could resolder it?

Hi Dave, had a header tank hose tail and drain tap, along with the neck joint redone, they also tested the flow and repainted it for £36 incl vat (March 2015) at

Express radiators Norwich , (01603 414488) they may pick up your way .

As john said you may have a rad guy your way, hope this gives you a help on price but depends on the damage as you know.

Thanks for the help guys, found a local rad specialist that may be able to repair it. If not a recore is more expensive than buying new. Will let them have a look at it on Monday. Expensive mistake should have remembered I hadent fitted nuts to the bolts holding the alternator in place whilst trial fitting it before I pushed the electrical plug in .

Moggie rad sorted locally for £36 and they painted it so I'm back in the good books. Alternator works as well, good result in the end but isn't it weird how some days nothing goes right?
