    Drive it Day, Steering Issues

Had a good day out in the Stag today. 200 mile round trip to the Shuttleworth Collection, first run out since last September and the car ran like a dream but the steering still doesn't feel quite right. I changed the steering wheel last year and the old wheel took some getting off which meant me pulling it quite hard to remove it. Since then the steering doesent seem to self return properly and feels notchy for want of a better word. Anybody got any ideas please as I can't see anything obvious thats amiss?

Could be dry steering UJ's in the column.
Giving the UJ's a good spray with WD40 or similar in the engine bay can make a world of difference!

Just a warning: I did spray the UJs with WD-40 several times over many weeks and did not notice any change. When I removed the rack and lower shaft believing the shaft was at fault, the UJs really were the problem. So beware, WD-40 may not do the trick for you.

No, WD40 didn't work for me either.

It's easy to miss the u/j that's in the steering column just behind the steering wheel. I've had one of those go notchy and need lubricating.
Don't forget that the usual WD-40 isn't any use as a lubricant, you need the one they make specially for that purpose.

Still worth a go with WD40.
I had a 'tight' spot that came and went for years that baffled me, a spray with WD40 on the engine bay UJ's and it disappeared completely!

Dave the ujs in the colum itself can foul if they are pulled up to tight and rub ask me how I know ............if you can get to lube them that's good and also maybe give the centre nut on shaft a knock with a hide or copper hammer downwards
