    Windscreen rubber chrome trim.

Morning all. When I bought my Mk2 the windscreen chrome trim was not fitted. I have the trim which is in good Nick and the rubber is sound as well. I have tried fitting it myself but failed miserably.

Can anyone recommend a suitably skilled individual in South Warwickshire or North Oxfordshire?

    Many thanks in advance.

Have you got one of these?
Bought one for a Mini project, they make life much easier, and cheaper than a professional fit.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

put washing line or similar thin cord round the rubber, to lift the outside rubber flap and fit the chrome trim then pull the cord out

I took my windscreen out first, left the rubber around the glass then fitted the chrome to the rubber on my garden table. Placed cord around the rubber offered it to the car and fitted by pulling the cord from the inside of the car securing the rubber to the car, taking care not to remove the chrome. Patience was the key to this, took me over 4 hours to fit, but a good result.

There are 2 sizes of the rubber trim to match 2 sizes of the chrome. Wrong 1 and it slips off or wont fit.

              Malc.
There are indeed two slightly different s/s trims, but only one replacement rubber has been made. This has the deeper slot to take the trim. If you have a matching deep trim, it is only difficult to fit. If you have the shallow one it is a *******! It may need some extra mastic on the corners to hold it in place.

I think the OP is looking for a specialist in South Warwickshire or North Oxfordshire to fit it for him.

Only 1 windscreen rubber seal is made now and where the trim fits this "slot" is only around 1mm wider than the wide chrome trim. I know this because I've bought 2 seals. The last one was from Paddocks which I collected, the chap on the counter showed me some used trim he had and this had a much narrower apature than mine. I still haven't fitted the new seal or tried to fit the trim. Maybe I'll need lots of glue?

Just in case anyone else is looking for the same I used Express Windscreens from Banbury. They did a sterling job, removing the windscreen, then fitting the chrome onto the rubber and finally refitting the windscreen. All done in an hour, I would highly recommend them.
