Auto shift removal

Is there a knack to removing the old T-handled auto shifter. Mine has no grub screw in the collar but still won't unscrew. Does the t-shifter then unscrew?

Use an Allen key, or similar, in the hole in the collar to hold it steady while you unscrew the handle. The collar acts as a locknut.
