    Rattling seats

I've been putting up with various clonks and rattles when hitting uneven road surfaces and potholes for ages but realized today that it is much worse with only me in the car. It dawned on me after checking everything else I could think of that it was probably the passenger seat. You have probably guessed that I'm not a rocket scientist. The fixings are all secure and the back of the seat seems to be the main culprit. I thought maybe putting the seat belt across might help but has anyone a better solution.

    Thanks

    John

Certainly don't mind. Hope someone will tell us if that can be done.

Don't think my wife will want to be employed as ballast to stop the seat rattling. Dread to think what the response would be--- ouch!!

Presentation, dear boy, it's all in the presentation.

It's just that you'd like to take her out for a little dinner at a fabulous place you've heard about, no need to lower the tone with technical talk about seats rattling......

Check the front pivot bolts under the seat base at the front - they are part of the seat height adjustment mechanism. I had a similar rattle when solo, not there when SWMBO was in the car.

It it was the front pivot bolt on the sill side that had stripped its thread. Recently rectified whilst the seats were being recovered.

              Just a thought?........

Thanks for that Ian. At last a reply not involving wives to dampen the rattles. Will check that out.

but then at least with ballast removed you may prefer the original rattle

                          coat on
