    PDWA Connector

    Hello all,

Whilst furgling under the bonnet I noticed a loose wire tied back in a knot with two bare ends. Checking round within range of the wires I realised that the PDWA wasn't connected and the plug that should be on the end of the wire was missing entirely.

I have tried all the usual suspects, but cannot source a new plug to fit myself. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Failing that does anyone have a used one on a length of lead that I can splice in?

Pic below of PDWA with socket - I can't find a picture of the plug anywhere.

I used a Lucar spade, perfect fit over the 2 pins

Chris, I have exactly the same problem so would be very interested to hear any suggestions! I cannot see how a spade connector would affix. I am away for two weeks from tomorrow so will have a more in-depth look on my return. I will post as soon as I have solved it. Regards, John.

If you simply Google "PDWA" there are lots of images come up of the parts involved if that's any help.

Hi Chris, I believe LD parts sale one that is a Jaguar part.

As John (Koy23) says, a normal Lucar connector fits across the two pins perfectly. The switch earths through the valve, so there is only one feed wire. Crimp, or solder, a Lucar connector to this wire and pop it on. As stated elsewhere, LDparts sell a Jaguar part that fits, but a crimp connector is MUCH cheaper.

You may well find that the plug has been cut off because dashboard warning light is permanently on because the PDWA valve needs resetting.....

Hi DJT the connector that is in the PDWA has two round pins (1973 Mk2 car), maybe they changed at some point.

I found this on LD Parts, but what I'm after is the connector that connects it into the loom. If I missed it, can you post a link or a part number please

John beat me to it, but again he is right. As I said above, the two pins are irrelevant. There is only one wire, so use a Lucar crimped connector across both pins. Mine has been like that for years. The Jaguar connector is no longer on the LD parts website. I guess he is out of stock. Phone him to find out if you insist on the correct connector.

Hmm, thanks guys, here are some pics of the two lead version.

I'll check mine over the weekend and report back with pics.

What car did those photos come from? 2 wires and that pipe layout are unlike any Stag that I've seen.

Attached is an image of the PDWA I found on Google. Hope this is helpful to you.

                            All the best

The pics show the steps from the original connector to the Lucar solution.
In pic 2 you can see that the two pins in the actuator are connected with a little wire-so just one wire needed to switch to earth.
I had to open the Lucar a little with a nail to make it fit to the actuator pins.
Knowing this solution earlier I could have saved a lot of GBPs!

                              Hope this helps.
