    Lumenition Optical Switch: Test Question

    Hello all,

I have a Lumenition optical switch as a spare unit and would like to make sure it is technically ok.
Pic 1 shows the required test operation and pic 2 the wiring of the Lumenition in my Stag.

    My questions:
    1) is there a way to test the unit w/o the power modul outside the car?

    2) if I connect it to the power modul in the Stag how do I measure the indicated 7,5 V in the red lead? Between red and black?

    Any advise is very welcome.

PS. I hope the third pic is readable.

    Hi Klaus,

The 7.5V is measured between the red and black.

You can test the optical unit if you have a 7.5V power supply, preferably current limited. Attach that to the red and black leads, and use a voltmeter between the blue and black and a piece of opaque material in the slot to interrupt the beam.

Many thanks Richard, that's clear now. I'll try to find a 7,5 V power supply.
