    Radio in glovebox

I wanted a modern radio in my Stag but retain the original look with an old radio. The perfect place to hide a modern one is the glovebox. I do not want to damage the original plastic one. So i made one from aluminium and put skai on it. It looks fine I think and it can be undone.

That looks really neat. I don't really need the radio as listen to ipod, so had a 3.5m jack added to an old period radio.

I wanted some extra speakers (4) and subwoofer (in the roof well). This can't be connected on the old radio. And now i can. And now I have cd/mp3 and decent sound control. But I agree with you. Your solution is a smart one.

I'm still trying to remove the speakers from the doors where they only speak to my shoulder.
I was thinking of the footwell sides but I haven't checked to see if there's space.
I have a minidisc/radio in my car which nicely fits in the usual space and doesn't have flashy front panel displays!

That's a neat bit of metalwork there! Well done!

I have the speakers in the footwell. They fit nicely there. And the sound is good. I make the back ones in the chubby holes.

Thank you! It's good to know there's enough space.
I also intent to put some small tweeters at the top of the doors, above the quarterlight control knob.

Tweeters give a bit extra for the sound. Good place to put them. I have threeway speakers. So the tweeters are on them. I hide everything so the look of the carinterior stays authentic.

I love my music and my current car has more speakers and amps that I can count, ball as part of the original option spec, but I have always thought the Stag cabin too small and too noisy to really benefit from that.

Modern cars have tweeters where we have opening quarter lights, so I would be interested to see how you do it Richard.

I have a couple of small tweeters, about 30mm diameter in black plastic cases that look a little like the quarterlight control. I think there's enough space at the top of the door panel, above the quarterlight knob and forward of it to fit the tweeters. They are only about 15mm deep, so should sink into the door panel foam a bit and not look out of place. These are the ones:

In terms of sound, I rarely listen to music in the car - one of the downsides of being a musician is that if music is playing I want to listen to it, and that's not possible in a car, let alone a Stag at speed! However, I do listen to speech radio a lot, and placing the tweeters closer to ear level will help understanding what's being said.
                        I hope.

Those tweeters looks nice. I think these will help a lot for listening to speech radio. Show us some pictures when done.

Somebody once fitted some tweeters using a bracket off the seat belt fixing on the B post. I've thought of copying this idea but like most things I've never gotten around to it!
