Wanted Stag Engine

Have a 1974 Stag auto which I am putting back in original condition , taking out the 3.5 Rover so need to find a suitable stag engine
Ideally I am looking for one still running but in need of a rebuild . There are none suitable in this part of the world at the moment
so if anyone has one or knows of one for sale please let me know

Don't know if you tried a search Bruce, (always a first call for me, it gets rid of most of the chaff) but ther's a good engine and gearbox being sold here

Just to clarify you don't specify if it must be in NZ but this option may help, I don't know the poster and have no idea how good his engine is but I guess if you wanted to import an engine then having a unit that could be used straight off might make the couple of hundred pounds or thereabouts more worthwhile ( I sold a TR 4 cylinder head, bloody heavy, which went to Hawii for less than £150).

Hi,

I am considering scraping my Stag due to high repair costs hence I have an original Triump V8. The car is a 1973 Mk2.

The engine has been stripped down & inspected and I am just about to rebuild it. Only parts I needed to replace was the piston rings. Obviously I will fit new bearings, seals, gaskets, etc. The engine was a runner when I bought the car.

The car had done 82k mile and the engine had been overhauled previously but I have no details of when. I know this becuase the crank shaft bearing & big end bearings are undersized.
