    power steering reservoir?

    Hi all.

Stupid question i'm afraid. My stag is non-standard with a Rover v8 in it, the original power steering reservoir is in my dads loft, so i know its not in the car! My question is this, is the reservoir in the photo likely to be for power steering?

    thanks in advance

    Hi

Looks possible. Have you looked to see where the pipe goes? Also carefully take off lid and examine fluid inside.

      Thanks for the reply
I have looked to see where the hose goes, but to be honest not sure what it should connect to! I'll dig out the haynes manual - but as the car is non-standard, not sure how much it will help. The fluid inside is red, and at the bottom of the marker inside. I have had some issues with my power steering hence trying to find the reservoir to check levels.
      thanks

The power steering fluid is the same as the AQF used with BW autoboxes but believe you have a manual gearbox so cannot compare. I cannot really see that this reservoir can be for anything else given that the brake fluid reservoir is as per standard?

That is the power steering reservoir from a Land Rover Defender / discovery / etc and probably loads more.

          John.

PS hose on base of bottle should feed the pump and the hose half way up is the return from the steering rack.

thanks for the replies. definitely not brake fluid, so pretty safe to assume power steering then.
great to have such a resource on hand.
            good weekend to all
