    Twin points parts?

    Hi all,

Does anyone know where I can get replacements for the items in the attached photos?

    - One is the plastics spacer between the two distributor baseplates, there are normally three in total, I have a unique Stag with only two at the moment...

    - The other is the earth cable coming from the condenser to the body of the distributor.

Any help or suggestions much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Tariq

I would try the Distributor Doctor, very helpful and good quality parts.

Advice - Throw the twin points away and change to electronic. A complete base plate assemble is available as below
LD Parts - 1 x distributor base plate complete set - 520127-8 (PID:735) cost £41.28 delivered - order on line.
        Powerspark Ltd. electronic ignition kit - K5 & R5 - original Stag V8 Powerspark kit - £35 95 - Tele: 01527 889453
Both these items were bought two years ago, expect a small price increase
The tick over and smooth acceleration is world away from the twin points. OK if you really want to stick to originality thats your choice. I am more than pleased with my choice.

Hi Andy, thanks for your thoughts and advice. The points had been pretty smooth and trouble free on mine but have recently become a bit of a pain. I'd been mulling the change for a while and now with a set of points and condensor running at almost the same cost of a magnetic ignition kit I decided to give it a go... Powerspark prices have gone up by the grand total of a pound. Tariq

I like electronic ignition for normal trouble free use, but it is a good idea to carry a spare distributor with points in case of problems. It can be very difficult to fault-find if no ignition with electronic, but quite quick to swap out the distributor and check everything with points.

Thanks for the suggestion David. I do plan to keep new points, condensor and feeler gauges in the boot, along with a large dose of patience!
