Was driving along today when I felts a distinct wobble at the rear and a noise i didnt recognise. Pulled over and found that two wheel nuts were missing and the other two were loose. Took a nut off the front to get home but after one mile or some the stud without a nut fell back and fell into the brake mechanism bringing me to a rapid halt, fortunately i was only doing about two miles a hour at the time. Recovery to my local garage followed. I was at a classic evening on Wednesday so am guessing this was when the ******* struck. I washed the car on tuesday and there were four nuts then. Moral of story is dont assume that fellow car lovers are not theives.

Are you sure the nuts were tight?
It is not unknown for them to vibrate off if not secure, happened to a friends stag and a wheel fell off!
Also the stud should not fall back into the drum either, they are pressed in.Mike.

I went to an event last Sunday and got parked next to a very nice e-Type 2+2 coupe. He proceeded to swap plug leads, use a battery isolator, and install a KrooK-Lok.
I commented that even given the value of his car he felt it necessary to take these precautions against theft at such an event.
He then told me the following. 2 years previously he was parked next to a TR4 in excellent possibly concours condition at similar event. As I often find the owner had parked the car and promptly disappeared so he never got to really look at the owner. A few hours later a guy turns up with a coil and some wiring. " I've just been waiting at the gate for my brother in law to turn up with a replacement coil as I had dreadful misfiring getting here"
He then ups the bonnet and generally works under he bonnet and the dashboard . The car starts and seems to run OK " Better get off whilst its OK" he says and off he goes. Guess what 2 hrs later, he tells, the owner turns up and says "where's my car"
Can also remember sun visor peak from PA Cresta going missing at a show around 2000.

Without going into any details, should anyone unauthorised attempt to start my Stag they will have a nice unexpected surprise waiting for them that will immediately draw attention to the fact that they are not the owner of the car!Mike.
