Thanks all, got a couple of mates coming over tomorrow to deal with it, so should be OK. Your offer and skill with a rope Al would be great if it doesn't get sorted.

Got it temporarily tied back to joists yesterday.
Unfortunately it has damaged the paint on the A post, the door and the rear wing. Also the 'chrome' ribbed side cover on the B post (t-bar upright) has been dented three times.

I am pleased about that if it's only the paint and the B-post cover. I feared worse, knowing how heavy the hardtops are. Restoration shouldn't be too difficult or expensive.
I hope you have now got secondary ropes attaching the top to the roof. Mine has the hoist attached to the roof bar, then I fasten a couple of extra ropes under the roof in case one or more fails.
Best of luck, RichardRichard

Cheers Richard. Problem is that it is three separate areas to paint in. The saving grace was that, apart from the two ratchet straps, there was some rope at the back which didn't break, so the top swung down rather than fell down totally.

It is just my luck Steve, all the years it was suspended over the unrestored car with no issue. Just guessing but think it is probably about £600.00 worth of paintwork. Got to find an undamaged B post cover now.
