Wiper motor problem. Need a part.

    Hello all.
I have a problem with my wiper motor in that it won't switch off.

I've searched the forum and found a picture of the part it would seem I need. It is numbered 8 in the picture and is called a "shoe".

Does anyone know where I might get one of these please? Mine is broken off and just resembles a fork shape, no cup or such like on the end of it.

I'd be grateful for any help at all please.

    Thank you.wiper part.pdf

Ah. All is revealed to me now. It seems the part I need is connected to the cable / rack.

Yes. It's welded to the rack. Note: I bought a replacement rack for mine some years ago from Rimmers but the part you refer to was so badly welded and profiled that I decided to stick with my original one and keep the Rimmers one as an emergency spare. If they are still like that you might need to do a bit of reworking/filing on the new rack which you buy.

Thank you Drew. You repaired your old one then?

Is it stainless steel do you know?

The old one wasn't broken, I just thought it would be a good idea to put a new rack in when I was restoring the Stag. That was when I was a newbie and thought that new parts wold be better than 40 year old parts. I was wrong; try to re-use or salvage old parts whenever you can. I'm afraid I don't know if it is stainless or not, I would guess at it being a hard steel.

            Thank you Drew.
Still don't know whether it's stainless steel or not, but, in any event, it's up and running again now.

The tangs and the fold over keeper which slots into the plastic switch actuator block had broken off in one piece fortunately.

I cleaned both parts up with some cellulose thinners and used some Q Bond, the powder based superglue product.

I'd seen it used before and was impressed with how strong the bond was. All works well so far. Time will tell now....Fingers crossed !!

Thanks for your input Drew, it's appreciated.
