Our 2nd Stag and new member

We had our new to us Stag delivered this morning. We live on the Eastern Shore of MD in the USA and we bought the car from a 20 year owner located in Kentucky. The drive was going to be about 700 miles, so we decided to have it shipped to us. Well she arrived this morning and she is really beautiful!

She's magenta with a very light yellow hardtop. Stunning combo that my better 7/8Ths just loves. She had better because the car was a birthday present after she had seen it online. We had a Stag back in the early 80s and she has always regretted us selling it.

The new car needs a small bit of fettling and love but she's a very solid driver now and will only improve.

Once I figure out how to get pictures inserted, I will post some.

    Hi Jon and welcome!

Sounds like a lovely Stag and look forward to seeing a few pics of it. Just press the insert image icon at the top of your new post field and follow the instructions. Just make sure the pics are saved on your computer as optimized for web, ie size approx 500kb (I think) otherwise the systrm won't allow the upload.

    Cheers,
    Joakim

I hadn't resized them yet so that was the problem.

                  Thanks for the kind comments

There;s not much Stag action over here but some parts are available. The previous owner did a GREAT job keeping the car up and the truck is full of new parts too, plus I have 3/4" of invoices for parts and repairs over his 20 years ownership. He was buying mainly from Rimmer in the UK. I have already made a list of parts that totals $750 delivered to the USA. Carpets, seat belts, visors, door seals, oil pump, mirror, parcel tray, pedal rubbers, etc... Nothing really serious except the oil pump.

The oil pressure seems OK but not great I think a change and inspection of the relief valve (spring change. I have been doing my reading) might help. Engine runs and sounds good and the oil pressure gauge is the newer one that has the temp and oil in one gauge.

The power steering pump is disconnected because the PO thought the steering was overboosted. I will hook the belt back on it and see what we get. Missus better 7/8ths want power steering.

Front brake pads need to be changed asap. We have them in hand already.

Needs new soft top. Big hole on the LH rear part. I'm going to look to get a soft top made in the pale yellow color or an off white/tan if possible to find. We will try to keep the same color combo as the hard top. Plus in MD we don't really get winter and it will not be a 12 month car. I can see taking the HT off and never putting it back on!!

Carpets are a bit thread bare and will need replacing.

Why don't pictures show up in posts?? Why click the link for every picture to see it??

More updates to come. Wash, clay, polish (MOP) and wax this weekend if the weather is good.

We are a "car" family here BTW. We love cars and have a few; 1984 Turbo Esprit, 1966 911, 1967 Mini Traveler, 1972 Alfa GTV, 1076 911. We do 99% of our own work in house and have a small shop up the street from our home.
