    Radiator Cowl

Hi all, Im sure I read somewhere that the Stag was originally made with a radiator cowl and the viscous blades were made of metal. The engine mountings would start to fail and the engine drops/moves and the blades hit the cowl and carnage ensues. The cowls were no longer fitted and the viscous blades were changed to plastic. Is this true? and what is the general feeling about the fitting of a cowl as I understand it helps with cooling.

    Cheers Mark

It was more about export, hot climate cars where air con was fitted - as there was a condenser fitted in front of the radiator there was more resistance to airflow through the radiator/condenser combined so a cowl was felt to be a solution...

But as said, after engine mounts sagged with age, the fans clipped and the cowls were binned - they are unnecessary for the European climate, and sometimes if not the originals can even impede airflow
