Just removing my heads to do the head gaskets, no2 cyl tdc, anthe bolts holding the cam sproket are at 12 & 6 not 3& 9 as in the rom. Am i missing somthing or am i being a muppet???
Cant upload picture for some reason
Take note of the ones that are accessible with the cam marks lined up and then give the engine a complete turn - remove the bolts now exposed, then turn the engine forward another turn to the cam marks and then take the remaining two out
Thanks Russ. Sorted now. Easy when you know how. Head off now, just the other one to do tomorrow. No stuck studs!
(Yet). Looks like nuber 8 was leaking very slightly, enough to pressurise the cooling system.that end didnt feel as tight when undoing the bolts etc. Note to self.....retorque numerous times!!!!
Thanks again, dont know what we'd do without you.
Dave.
Well you are going to have to learn Dave - I am totally serious when I say I'm leaving the forum and club, and I'll be gone as soon as Peter updates the people who haven't paid their subs
Perhaps someone should have thought about that before they removed me as a moderator because/while I was recovering from a heart attack
The said person ( Yes I can work it out ) needs to make an official public apology on this fourm for such an out rage to a well respected member. When my membership is due for renewal I will have to think about it.
Won't make a difference Glenn, but I appreciate your point. What needs to be thought of, is if someone is a volunteer, what should be expected if insulted in such a manner?
That is appalling and as I said in another thread the club needs to investigate and deal with the individual (I have no idea who it is) and as Glenn has said, issue a public apology. The strength of a club is the membership and losing someone like Russ with his knowledge can only weaken the club and reduce the benefits of being a member. I too am thinking about renewal.

Cheers Glenn
Totally agree on your thoughts Glenn and more so perhaps he should consider his own position....

Mines due next month. I'm questioning whether to bother - after 28 years of unbroken membership.....

You may still be allowed on the forum Russ. I haven't been a member for 2 years now and I still seem to be able to come on here - of course that may well change now that I've posted this!
On another note, I have no experience of the TSSC, but I'm now a member of Club Triumph and love the events they run.
Sincerlely hope this has an effect.
Look, the situation is:-
Impersonal & sad. But so is my Bank!!!
But compared to years ago, the help & information available here is fabulous....
We can even help & affect the parts quality being supplied. (yes, we have and can)
The S.O.C. the forum & especially the S.O.C.T.F.L. is pretty much unique.
I understand the grief some have experienced here is unacceptable, and have felt that too.
But, for the greater good, it is worth carrying on with membership... I speak as someone who has experienced the dire situation of clubs / associations in other walks of life, car related and otherwise......I don't wish to go into details, but Mercedes.Benz. membership is just one where we (s.o.c.) compare very very favorably.
I for one (& not only one) was saddened by J.Leytons absence here.
& Russ / kryton has been a fabulous contributor here.
I will offer to pay for the continued membership of Russ, because he is 'worth it'.....but probably that isn't the issue.....if it is, let me know.
I had a stag for over 30 years now & just want this forum to be THE place for THE best info.
If there are hurtful ppl here then, thats just the way of forums....i tried the alternatives, but my logins/passwords failed / expired & there was no help to get them reinstated.....so here is still the best source of help / info imho.
Please stay here Russ / Kryton.
I had a workshop / shop floor backround as did a few others here, that means we understand how to deal with the flack / P.T. & management flack (probably?)
