I have one for my Mark 2. Green sleeve. Are the Mark 1's rare then?

Fairly convinced mine is original as cooling addendum is present as befits early MK2. 1973. Has age related patina/apearance

Its in a mid -tan vinyl cover. Do not want to remove it from this cover as may result in damage to binding.

Mine has a mid tan cover, but the booklet seems to have a white cover. It is dated 1976 and Edition 9 - not original to my Stag which is a '74.

I have a Reprint with the green card cover in the car, the original with a brown plastic sleeve is kept with the original owners Passport to Service book and the sales invoice from 1972.

I have the original beige/tan covered hand book for my Stag and an orange bound booklet headed Triumph Service Training Notes -
                  - Triumph 2997cc V8 Engine - Stag. (it includes great photos in support of the explanations).

I have 2 of these Edition 8 is dated 1975 and Edition 9 is dated 1976 the main difference seems to be 1975 describes the top up of BW35 autobox whilst the 1976 gives the procedure for the BW65 a couple of more changes I noticed were:-
The recommended plug changed from N11Y to N12Y
Static timing changed from 14 BTDC to 12 BTDC
Leyland Service is given as Cowley on the earlier and Allesley (Coventry) on the later.
1975 had a tan vinyl cover the 1976 cover was green

It would be interesting how the book evolved from the earliest cars. - Alan

                      Hi
I have just double checked my tan vinyl cover copy and it is an edition 4, copyright 1972, printers run dated 1/73

I was not aware that the top up procedure for the BW65 was different to the BW35? Although my car is 1973 it has been retro-fitted at some time in its life with a 1976 engine and BW65 autobox.

Could you please detail the difference?

                      Thanks

                      H

                        Alan,

Interesting, mine is an Edition 9 with a tan cover and the car was built one month before the end of production (May '77)

Mine's a 4th Edition, printed in 1972, plain white cover in a tan plastic slip cover. It has the Cooling System modification 4-page addendum.

Also in the tan wallet is the Triumph "Passport to Service" made out to the original owner on 1st January 1973 at Broadfields Garage, Cockfosters. There are garage stamps for the PDI and services at 1,000 miles, 3,000, 6,000 and 9,000 miles in December 1973. That's when the main dealer stamps end, but I do have invoices from another garage for the services after that.

There's also a leaflet advertising The Triumph Automobile Association, headquartered in Coventry.

It seems they also included a wiring diagram as a fold out to the handbook it folds out to 3 sheets of A4 side by side, included with one of my cars, missing (not included?) with the other. - Alan
